The flatter shaped bean lozenge at the center of this Loose Ring Snaffle is kinder in the horses’ mouth being slightly longer and flatter to lay smoother against the tongue. 

The size of the bit is determined by the measurement between the rings. The thickness is measured as the diameter of the mouthpiece at the connection to the ring.
